This Month Learn About Toys and Eye Safety

The holidays are almost here and that means toys and presents. Adoring relatives love surprising the kids with the ''in'' toys for the holiday season.
It is crucial that parents learn and relay to others the restrictions when it comes to eye safety and choosing toys. Accidents with unsafe toys and games do take place, occasionally resulting in damaged vision.

So what are some rules to safeguard children from toy related injury?

  1. Only buy gifts which are age appropriate. Be careful not to allow little siblings to handle toys made for older siblings.
  2. Teach children how to play safely. If possible, before allowing children to play check new toys and games for safe construction.
  3. Look after small children as they play.
  4. Prevent eye injuries by tossing out toy or games with dangerous, pointed edges or projectiles.

Before buying the new toy or game that your child ''must have'', take a few minutes to peruse eye safety precautions when it comes to children's toys. The holidays are a great time for creating special moments with your loved ones, not the doctor on call at the local hospital. Wishing you a happy and safe holiday season.
